A Meandering Life...

Pre-Mono Monday :: CLOSE-UP :: mm52

"Here Stewarts once in triumph reigned,
And laws for Scotland's weal ordained;
But now unroofed their palace stands,
Their sceptre's swayed by other hands;
Fallen, indeed, and to the earth
Whence grovelling reptiles take their birth,
The injured Stewart line is gone.
A race outlandish fills their throne;
An idiot race, to honour lost;
Who knows them best despite them most."
Robert Burns ~ Stirling 1787

This is a CLOSE-UP from a page of a five books I have dating back to 1875 called Picturesque Europe. It is an engraving of Stirling Castle just 90 years after Burns scratched these words onto a local inn's window.

Tonight many around the world celebrate Burns Night.

I wasn't going to do a pre-Mono Monday this week but habits die hard and it's not Burns Night tomorrow... ;-)

Don't forget to tag your Mono Monday Blips for Close-Up with mm52.

Thanks again to Paladian for starting the Mono Monday challenge exactly a year ago and for providing the anniversary topic.
