Another writer

Driving from an afternoon at a new member's meeting in Oban to an evening at a superbly attended Burns Supper organised by YES Bute I stopped briefly to celebrate another writer.

This is the monument to Neil Munro - journalist, begetter of Para Handy and writer of fine historical novels. It stands in Glen Aray , near to the farm from which his mother hailed. He was illegitimate but as his mother worked at Inveraray Castle there was and is much speculation about an aristocratic connection.

He spent much of childhood in this glen which was a cold place today.
