The best laid plans......
I set off into St Ives this morning on a mission to take a blip for school. In preparation for Book Week Clare has asked us to blip ourselves reading our books in 'exotic' locations. It made me think of this carving of Lady Blantyre. For sixty years, the real Dowager Lady Blantyre would bring her book up to this point on her estate (now a public park) to read and enjoy the view (now obscured by the mature trees). Sadly I had forgotten that Lady B's book has already been eaten away by woodland munchers so I had to share mine with her instead!
ps 'The Humans' by Matt Haig is a great read and very funny.
pps On an extra note, it was surprising to see the woodland behind us cleared of rhododendrons in an attempt to eradicate Sudden Oak Disease which has been discovered in parts of the parkland. I am not sorry to see the invasive rhododendrons gone and hope it will have done the trick. When I spoke to the contractor some weeks ago, he said that DEFRA will do a fly over to see if the disease has been stopped in its tracks and, if not, trees will have to be chopped down..........
