Golden Silk

This beautiful scarf has been made from Golden Silk and took nearly a year to make. Embracing Cambodian tradition dating back to pre-Angkorian times, all Golden Silk designs are handmade from start to finish, using only natural materials, and thread from a rare and delicate breed of silkworm. Local women, often widows or orphans from the war, work happily together. The project has been running since 2002 and has given work to many who have learnt new skills. It takes many years to be proficient in the final process of weaving and watching the intricate process was a real treat.
