John Souter memorial stone inscription, Badyo. (A924)
"In memory of John Souter
who perished here in a snowstorm 3rd March 1897.
Erected by a few friends"
John Souter lived at Stronchavie between Kirkmichael and Pitlochry, and was a cattle drover. He had attended a stock sale at Moulin that day and in the evening he left to walk the seven miles back to his home. A severe snowstorm was blowing and about four miles from Pitlochry, Mr Souter collapsed in the snow. He was discovered by a roadman the next day. Beside the road where he was found is a stone erected by a few friends.
