Operation Stack

Chaos at the Channel Ports means that trucks are stacked up on the M20 awaiting their turn to board ferries or the tunnel. This was near J7 in Maidstone almost at the end of 12 miles of trucks. This Stack has been particularly bad lasting a week now, owing to a fire in the tunnel last Saturday and on-going electrical faults in one of the tunnels since then.

Lots of complaints about the impact of Stack as it has severe repercussions in East Kent and Dover as well as around Maidstone and gobbles up 35 police officers to manage the arrangements. Local people have to pay for this through rates but the the company and its shareholders do not. Something wrong somewhere.

Good session at the gym this morning followed by a brisk 5 mile walk in the afternoon. Considerable variation in my weight depending on which balance I used; on the digital balance I was 15 stone 7lbs and on the analogue balance I was 92kg which equates to 14 stone 7 lbs. I know which I'll take.
