Angkor Wat sunrise
Our guide told us to be ready at 6am for a visit to see the Angkor temples. We assumed we would be seeing the sun rise over Angkor Wat but he had other ideas as it would be too busy. He was taking us somewhere else as it would be quieter - but without a sunrise.
However we persuaded him to stop and we joined the massed crowds of Chinese, Koreans, Americans etc. I imagine this is a bit what the Taj Mahal must be like at dawn. It was worth it to see the sun appear over the temple. I really regretted not having a tripod on this occasion.
We then rejoined our guide's intended itinerary and visited Angkor Thom and the Bayon which were lovely in the early light.
This afternoon we went back to Angkor Wat in the searing heat to have the proper guided tour.
A relaxing dip in the hotel pool was most welcome when we got back
