In the Beginning....
...there are measurements, drawings, aluminum wire, wood and clay.
Some of you have asked how a sculpture begins...this is it. This will be an Eagle Dancer. This is Day 1.
I measure the wire for the armature on a figure I've measured and drawn...cut it and tie it together with wire.
The clay is a special sculptors clay made of earth clay, and wax rather than water. It never dries out. It comes in 10-12 lb. slabs and cost more per pound than the finest steak. I recycle and use it over and over. Some is lost in the molding process, but the mold guys save most of it. The wire is aluminum. When I put the clay on it, I can move it around like an action figure into the pose I want. He might be in a whole new pose tomorrow.
