Invisibility cloak failure

A day trip to Newcastle, the town that gave us brown ale, Viz, Lucozade and windscreen wipers. And the man who built the first inter-city railway line, illustrated here. Including someone who clearly wasn't fooled by me nonchalantly pretending to photograph the station roof.

I was there for the most boring of conferences, brightened up only by a good chat on the train with an old friend. It's amazing how much gossip you can get through in a couple of hours. And how close you can get to solving all the world's problems, including war, famine and inequality in general. And still have time to agree on which series of 24 was the best.
