Low tide
Wet, grey and foggy, I staggered down to the sea. The tide was way out and the mud was thick and I 'd forgotten that there was a hole in my wellies.
Thank you to everyone who took part in yesterday's challenge. Something rather odd though. SarumStroller emailed BlipCentral to ask whether Derelict Thursday could be put on the main page of Challenges. It has after all been going since last September and regularly attracts up to 60 people, all with interesting images. The answer was no because:
1) the subject matter is too downbeat
2) It might encourage blippers to endanger themselves, which Blip HQ could not endorse
3) the tag is too long
I am gob-smacked actually.
Reason 3: What???
Reason 2: we are all adults and do not need to be nannied ;
Reason 1: the most staggering of all; that premise could destroy about 70% of all art. Are we just meant to stick to flowers and dogs? (I Have nothing against flowers and dogs by the way, but think there's room for other subjects too). There is a powerful fascination in dereliction and decay and always has been. Beauty as well. An email will be sent.
These are my personal faves (apologies if you haven't got a heart yet but you will!):
Skeena : a fine bit of historical documentation; I love the window but am a bit worried about that wallpaper!
osuzanna : I love the composition and soft treatment; just what was that outdoor fireplace used for?
Talpa : a wonderful array of complimentary colours amongst all that rustiness
SnapperJude : bleak and powerful shapes, how did that graffiti get up there and what does it mean?
Shuttersister for this week's place I would love to live, it just needs a bit of tlc.
I wonder if Himself agrees.
