Christchurch - Baton

Well - the damage to Christchurch takes the breath away. It's a city with fabulously friendly people but it's had the old heart ripped out of it.

The damage to the cathedral is so sad - alongside the Botanic a Gardens it was the favourite spot on our last visit. While the cathedral is badly damaged and currently closed...the fund raising is apparently progressing well.

This shot is of the "baton" next to the cathedral - it seemed to be glowing in the light this evening, which was heartening.
