Where bare feet trod

At low tide the remains emerge of the steps and ramps that once formed the town's swimming place at Lampit Cove. In 20 years I've never seen anyone taking a dip here but in the memory of the very old it was a favourite location for youngsters to gather. I guess sensitivities about water quality didn't impinge on the pleasure of larking about in the sea back then. The old brick steps are crusted with barnacles and partially collapsed now. (In this alternative shot you can see how the upper part of the descent has weathered almost to match the rocks.themselves.) I imagine that most of the owners of the bare feet that once scampered up and down have turned up their toes now but  somehow a vestige of those sandy soles seems to linger hereabouts.

One for Derelict Thursday.
