My old BOAC fan, a bit broken. Today in the studio I picked it up again to look at it. The BOAC letters, the logo and 'Speedbird' all so much to do with where I come from, a sort of 'home'. Those words, logos and the 'planes, constant in my childhood. I thought they all belonged to my father when i was very small.  And for some reason, I then remembered going on leave and having to go to London, to Airways Terminal and I didn't even know what the word 'terminal' meant, then it meant cold, and the dentist and the doctor.
Wherever we lived people were always 'leaving' or 'arriving'. Us as well.
Funny how a memory can just pop up along with an object.
