Script.

There is the happiness which comes from creative effort. The joy of dreaming, creating, building, whether in painting a picture, writing an epic, singing a song, composing a symphony, devising new invention, creating a vast industry.

-- Henry Miller

Right now I'm devising a new performance with my 11-13's Youth Theatre. We've been exploring creative writing, our own voices, spoken word poetry, music, TED talks ... There is no script until we make it up which is a bit of a nervewracking process. It feels insane and exhilarating at the same time.

Yesterday we got our first section up on its feet which is called "190 things we know to be true." Today I did the 'final' edit of the script for that section, written entirely by them and just structured by me. I'm trying to show them that their words are good enough to be heard on a stage and that their voices count.

I think that with a bit of time, patience and practice, they are going to create something pretty special.
