Saturday: 100 Days To Go
I was down in Split this weekend to take part in an event marking 100 days until the London 2012 Paralympics. We organised a balote (the Dalmatian equivalent of boccia) on the Riva, the main stretch in Split.
We had three teams and I was on the UK-Croatia team. We won our first game 8-2 and let me tell you, that despite being very unsporty, I was not bad at balote, scoring three of our winning points. I was mighty pleased as normally I am a bit of a duffer at sports.
The team playing in this shot was Olympic medal winners/Paralympians vs Split Hajduk (the local football team) veterans/Journalists. Split has about 86 Olympic medal winners living in the city. There are three Olympic medal winners in this shot - the most famous being the chap in the red t-shirt on the right. That is Darko Kralj, a paralympian shot-putter who won gold in Beijing and who will also be competing in London.
I have to say, this was a fantastic event with which to be involved.
