Lovers of lights II

(Back blip)

Had a lovely relaxing day with my mum and dad.  They have a wee sunroom/conservatory/porch (whatever you call it), so we were able to sit and watch all of the birds in the snowy back garden without getting cold!  At one point, two red foxes sauntered as casually as you please, through the garden, one even stopped to sit down, stared at us for a few seconds and then wander off.

In the late afternoon, Leejohnaire and I took the train into town.  We strolled around photographing various buildings and items of interest (most of which I've jealously seen blipped here by others, but since we've not had the chance recently, we took our own versions).

Two old friends of ours, K and R, very kindly drove down from Aberdeen to see us for the evening. It was wonderful to be able to catch up with them.  We had a brilliant night out with them at a great tapas bar - and to make the meal even more perfect, we were served tablet with our coffee at the end.  Not very Spanish but deliciously Scottish!

K and R were staying over at the Grand Central Hotel and since none of us had been inside the main part of the hotel before, we all went up to see their room when they checked in.  It's a very grand old building, built in the late 1800s, and renovated in 2010 to incorporate modern luxuries.  On the way back down, we took the stairs and noticed (not that anyone would miss it!) this HUGE chandelier which hung down the whole stairwell from the top floor (about six?) all the way to the ground floor.  I took this from the second floor and you can just make out a nice bald man sitting at the bottom looking at his blue-screened phone.  L thinks the chandelier makes it look as though the man's wearing one of dwalletta's bigger tiaras!
