Fungus

I spotted this weird looking fungus / mould on a stick whilst out walking today - a spot of colour on an otherwise very grey day.
 

A quick look on Google suggests it could be Physarum polycephalum, which according to Wikipedia is literally translated as the “many-headed slime”, a slime mould that inhabits shady, cool, moist areas, such as decaying leaves and logs.
