Shetland pony

We cycled out to South Queensferry on the tandem today and on the way stopped off to pet some Shetland ponies by the Cramond Bridge. Later into the trip I started to itch. I returned home covered in bites and I am just wondering whether the nasty biting creature jumped from this little fellow onto me?
