A Winter's Tale

Rome? Paris? No... the City of Perth on a stunningly sunny winter's day. Arriving from Inverness by train, I actually had to dig out my sunglasses - which I had brought by accident. After all, who would have thought...

I spent an hour and a half signing books at Waterstones for a long line of people who had braved the winter cold, no doubt encouraged out by the sunshine. Then on to WH Smiths for a huge stock signing. The good people of Perth, it seems, have a healthy appetite for reading.

Last night I learned that, staggeringly, Waterstones in Inverness had actually sold 11,000 of my books, and on the train today I received the news that "Runaway" had gone straight into the charts at No.4 after just three days of sales - which were 11 percent up on "Entry Island" at the same time last year.

Emboldened by that news we carried on by train to Dundee, where around 150 people turned out to hear me interviewed on stage at the Steps Theatre by the absolutely delightful Peggy Hughes, and I ran into fellow blipper, Canny Scot - https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2004679509541916535 .

Dundee Central Library, which hosted the event inaugurated a first - they tweeted a live commentary all through my talk.

On Thursday it is on to Edinburgh, several signings and an event at Edinburgh Central Library.
