A walk today along the trail through Barr Hammock Preserve, an Alachua County Conservation Area. A natural prairie is being restored, having been diked and drained a hundred years ago to be used as pasture land. 5700 acres have been purchased by the county as a very important wildlife corridor. The area also features 'significant' pre-historic archeological sites. It is a very special natural treasure.
