An unexpected trip
The undertaker had booked the funeral for Monday. The registrar in Penrith couldn't see us until next week so we had an unexpected trip up to Carlisle to register the death and get the paperwork needed for the funeral to go ahead. The registrar was kind and gentle in his manner, obviously practiced in dealing with people in times of loss.
We treated ourselves to lunch in Carlisle and then popped in to the local garden centre for a cup of coffee before heading back to the undertaker with the all important "green form". I found this brave little Robin amongst the plants, he brought a nice bit of colour and light to an otherwise stressful day.
The undertakers had unexpected questions, things we thought were being taken care of by the vicar and an unexpected harsh tone to match.
In the evening Dad had a meeting and so Mum & I went to R's to design and do a trial print of the Order of Service for the Funeral.
