A walk in Narnia
The best of winter walks this afternoon - upwards and inwards on the snowy forest track that runs round the flanks of GlenKin, near Dunoon. The sun had more or less vanished behind the hills when we started, but when I turned to look back I caught sight of the pale golden light on the tops of the highest trees. I took so many photos this afternoon that choosing one was difficult, but this was the first of many delights in a hike that lasted two hours and left me with damply frozen toes and a sense of how lucky I am to live here and have the freedom not to waste such an afternoon.
The only regretful thought was how much our grandchildren would have loved it - and how lethally fast the sledge might have gone ...
