The other Mem and Pap

This is a picture of my grandparents on my mom’s side of the family.  My grandparents on my dad’s side passed away when I was about 10.  When I was born, I was named after my two grandfathers.  That’s how I became Mark, after my pap on my dad’s side and Elvin, after my pap on my mom’s side.  Therefore my initials spell M.E.S. or “mess” as my family likes to call it, saying it suits me perfectly.  My pap on mom’s side shown here grew up as a farmer.  He lived with his family and attended a few different schools until he graduated.  He continued to work on the farm up to the point when he was married to my mem, and they had 4 kids, the 3rd being my mom.  Pap still works on the farm every day and mem works as a receptionist in a nursing home.  Since I can remember, I have been working on the farm with my pap.  He taught me many things about life and that hard work eventually pays off.  He also taught me some PA Dutch, but has never seemed to let on what he’s saying when he gets mad.  He taught me how to drive tractors, fix things, and how to make apple cider taste great.
