The trouble with science fiction is:

Scientology is a quasi-religion that was dreampt up by sci-fi writer, L Ron Hubbard. That much is true.
The consistent reports of brainwashing, abuse, financial irregularities, family breakdowns, assaults, threats and other anti-social behaviour perpetrated by the Hubbardists/Scientologists may well be true. I couldn't possibly say...mainly because my lawyer says so.
The French have officially designated this bunch of loons and misfits as a cult. I've always admired the French.
