Whooo Are You?

My brother Steve and I went to Stanwood to see the Long Eared Owls. At first it seemed we would only see far off Short Eared Owls. As we were walking back tot he car, a man pointed to a small bunch of bushy trees. "She is in there," he said, and then we realized there were about six people with cameras aimed at her. She was sleeping but woke occasionally to check out the strange creatures with big round eyes that were looking at her. This was one of those moments.

We got to see a Short Eared Owl up close too. It flew to a snag after a Peregrin Falcon stole it's dinner. You can see my best photo of the Short guy on Chaikins of Bellingham.
