Punishment

Alex took his punishment like a man this evening.  Reading a book was not his punishment but deprivation of electronic gadgetry was.  As with many others, both our children have become obsessed with all things electronic and, as soon as they are awake, they want to log on and ignore the world immediately around them in favour of far-away lands and fantasy worlds.  This often leads to frayed tempers in the morning trying to get them out to school and again in the evening when trying to manage bedtime.  

Although I wasn’t present, this morning was one of those bad days and the kids were banned from electronics this evening until they had spent at least some time reading a book.  The funny thing is that they both enjoyed that opportunity, so perhaps we need to remove temptation from them more often.
