Ara Guler

The card on the desk shows a photo by the legendary Turkish Armenian photographer Ara Güler of boats on the Bosphorous at Istanbul.

He was born in 1928 in Beyoğlu, Istanbul, Turkey  and is a photojournalist, nicknamed
"The Eye of Istanbul".
Widely known & admired in Turkey, he captures a now disappearing romantic vision of the city from the 1940's to the 1980's, 'showing it's melancholic aesthetic as it alternates between tradition and modernity'.
