Sand Sea And Stars
I left the hotel room about 12.30am to have a walk along the beach and try and get a blip photo with the sand, sea and stars.
I got to the pier adjoining our hotel with the next and could make something out in the darkness in a beach hut. There was no movement so I crept up and could make a shape sat down. I was unsure if it was a dummy but when I got a few feet away I could see it was a security guard who'd gone to sleep with blanket over him. I got a photo from a few feet away. That alone would make a great blip photo. It was like something out of a horror film.
I like being out in the night. It reminded me of all the covert surveillance jobs I've done over the years: a Foootball ground, hotel room, under cars,
pubs and clubs, cottages, etc. If only I'd had the camera I have now in those days!
Well, I was at the pier for 30 minutes and he never stirred. It's a good job he didn't wake as I was near him - he could have had a heart attack!
The blip photo shows the pier, sea and stars through the clouds. Mauritius is suffering a minor cyclone from Madagascar: But I like the cooling breeze and sound of the waves crashing on the beach it's causing.
