Seed potato time
Spent the morning at the allotment, muck spreading. Four barrowloads of well rotted manure went on the plot where the potatoes are going this year. Susan dug this in while I hurt my back turning fresh manure from one bin into the just emptied bin and filling another bin with fresh manure, which happens to be in a big pile just behind our rake of compost bins.
In the afternoon we went to Pleasant View Garden Centre to select our seed potatoes. We've been here the past two or three years as you can buy exactly the number of potatoes you need for your plot. This year we've gone for all the Cs: Casablanca (earlies) Charlotte (second earlies and salad potatoes) and Cara (main crop, which did well on the plot last year)
Spoke to Chris in San Diego in the evening before going up to Doreen's for dinner. A cold walk today and a little challenging with a sore back, but we covered just under 4 miles.
