Cruise along the runway

I rented a bike and headed north around the island, saw lots of road works (the whole island is in the middle of heavy development), took a little tour around some pepper fields and generally explored.

Shortly before sunset I went to the old airport. Since the new international airport was opened in 2012, it seems they've just abandoned the old one and left it as it is. There is a make-shift turning from the main road on to the runway where some fencing has been taken down. I don't think it's officially open to the public but people use it as a shortcut. It's mostly deserted though, so I was able to ride up and down uninterrupted. 'Danger Zone' was playing on loop in my head. Gutsiest move I ever saw, man.
