Nick and Pip

I met Nick Fielding years ago when we were both working on the BCCI story, he for the Independent, me for the FT, and we became friends. He went on to cover stories and write books on various intelligence-related scandals, including the terror network behind the 9/11 attack.

He's an expert on weavings from Central Asia and he's well travelled. Most recently his interests have been taking him to Kazakhstan and its capital Astana, that's beginning to look like one of those futuristic cities we once saw in school books about the space age.

I should have taken this when there was more light around but I didn't want to interrupt the conversation. Nice to see Pippa's found a new friend.
