January Sunday in Stratford

We had a walk down by the river in Stratford today as we quite often do if there's nothing else on the agenda. This was the view along Waterside / Southern Lane as we made our way back to the car.
Two of our dinner guests from yesterday evening stayed the night, so they left about 11:30 am.  The dinner was a great success, and I remembered everything - sometimes I look in the fridge the next day, and there will be something that I meant to serve.
We then had a nice Skype session with our family in Taiwan. Our son has placed his order with us for items he'd like us to take out with us:- Yorkshire tea bags, and some ground spices and other items : turmeric, paprika, cumin,  cardamom, ginger and coriander plus some cayenne pepper. Our daughter-in-law's parents were there too, but it's difficult for us to converse much with them as they speak Taiwanese and obviously we speak English. We grinned at one another and bowed our heads several times and said a few "Hello's" in Mandarin (the Chinese Mandarin language is mostly different to Taiwanese, and although our son speaks fluent Mandarin he only speaks a little Taiwanese for conversing with his in-laws). They also said "Happy Birthday" in English to C as it's his birthday tomorrow, to which we said "thank you" again in Chinese. They had obviously been practising and were very pleased with that.
A quiet evening beckons. I need to do another couple of hours on my shirt project, and "Call the Midwife" is back on our screens tonight.  Good old fashioned television with nothing fancy, and you can go and make a drink and come back and still follow the story. Just my sort of programme.
