Winter Dawn

Wakening to a still, frozen landscape, this beautiful sky materialised at 9am as the light from the early morning sun illuminated the tops of these  beautiful cloud formations above the Campsie Hills. The formation on the left looks a bit like a flying saucer and may be an Altocumulus Lenticular cloud, associated with waves in the atmosphere that develop when relatively stable, fast moving air is forced up and over hills.
