Here's looking at you ....
A female Orange Tip butterfly (the female has grey marks instead of orange,) captured on a short walk this morning, just as the sun broke through. As the day warms up the butterflies become more active making them a challenge to catch at rest. On a cool morning this one was allowed me to get right up close, closer than I have managed before!
Mollyblobs also caught one of these at rest today and notes that marbling on the underside of the wing has a greenish appearance caused by the way our eyes see the black and yellow markings.
