St Mary's, Newton by the Sea

Some time ago Ceridwen wrote an interesting Blip about `Tin Tabernacles' in Wales and I remember having a conversation with her about this chapel in Northumberland. So with fifteen minutes to spare this morning I decided to walk down the road to take this photo.

She is far more informative in her blips than I could ever be on this subject so if you are interested in knowing more please follow the links below:

My other choice of blip would probably have been the excavation of earth and gorse on the Whinsill Heugh next to the road out to Newton Point. I initially put this down to National Trust clearance and couldn't understand why this should be. Well lots of bobbing white tails seem to be the answer to who's excavating the bank. I managed to take one close-up of two young rabbits in a nose to nose pose. I think it was one of those cases of `if we close our eyes you won't see us'!

So I'm now back home typing this in the real world of dust and debris. The plastic tent is down and we have a fire to keep us warm. It feels wonderful as it's felt more like November than May today (Northumberland was decidedly warmer). We also have functioning electricity in the other half of the house (I have to try very hard not to say next door) which is wonderful and the bathroom walls are finally tiled.
