Another 'Seaside Saturday' today for me...and back to the wild waters of Essex again (no bargain rail tickets to Brighton at the moment). I love it there though and it's very easy to get there from Limehouse station. It was a very chilly, windy morning, so put many layers on (including those very attractive men's white thermal long johns, under my jeans, that I like to sport in icy conditions...I'll be caught out one day when I slip and break my leg and have to reveal them!)
I travelled to the end of the line to Shoeburyness this time and intended to walk all the way to Leigh. I only got as far as Southend though, as the afternoon went so quickly, when I was stopping to take photos, have lunch, stop to stuff shells in my pocket (strange woman), stroke the occasional dog (not the big, black cross dog though that barked angrily at me...I looked like a scarecrow by then though, so I don't blame him). The sun was about to go down by the time I got to Southend and I felt quite tired too...so popped into the Three Shells cafe on the beach to have a hot chocolate, piled high with a pyramid of whipped cream and marshmallows small cup of boiled water.
