Dumgoyne

Club walk today; wondered if we would get there due to road conditions, but in actual fact it was absolutely fine on the main roads, a little tricky on the B road but we managed.  We did a 9 mile walk on the West Highland Way, finishing at Drymen, where we had a lovely leisure break in The Winnock, lots of banter and good fun.  My photo was taken as we passed Dumgoyne, with the Glengoyne Distillery below.

Dumgoyne is a hill prominent on the edge of the Campsies, and is a well known landmark visible from Glasgow. It is a volcanic plug and is 427 m high (1,402 feet).

 Below Dumgoyne is Glengoyne Distillery, a whisky distillery continuously in operation since its founding in 1833 . Glengoyne is unique in producing Highland single malt whisky matured in the Lowlands. Located upon the Highland Line, the division between the Highlands and Lowlands of Scotland, Glengoyne’s stills are in the Highlands while maturing casks of whisky rest across the road in the Lowlands. Unlike many malt whisky distilleries, Glengoyne does not use peat smoke to dry their barley, but instead uses warm air.
