The Cadillac
We had a good old laugh this morning. We were intending to shop in Katoomba and then have a late brekkie but our best laid plans came unstuck when we found the main street blocked at the top by the Rural Fire Service fellows. They had closed the street because of a major event happening at the Carrington Hotel.
The "Lady Luck" festival is a bit of a celebration of all things retro and this Cadillac caught our eye. It reminds me of when I was only 9 years old and Mum and Dad bought a 1957 Chevrolet. It was the first of it's kind in Western Australia with fins and Dad was so proud of it. I do remember when we all went in to the car dealers to collect it Mum made us all wear slippers and this continued for a few weeks until the novelty wore off.
Dad really didn't want to part with and there were tears all round when many, many years later it was sold to a Chevrolet enthusiast. Everyone knew George Wall's two tone blue Chevie!! I'm sure Big Brother Allan46 will have very fond memories as well.
