The Schickling Walk
Another walk I have avoided the last few weeks as it runs along the Günz river and natural wet meadows. Actually wasn't as bad as expected and the dogs were only mucky as opposed to filthy by the time we got home.
Behind the trees running along the Günz is Ottobeuren's Benedictine Basilica with the Alps in the background. It was shot facing south and shows a slight "Föhn" effect, caused by the warm wind of that name coming over the Alps from Italy.
Föhn might hold until Friday but will break down and we are due for a good portion of snow on Saturday and finally a spell of cold and dry weather - almost sounds as though we could experience a touch of winter and that in mid January!
We have the Scots and the Vikings to thank. The lows over Scotland and highs in the Bay of Biscay have been shovelling the warm Atlantic wet storms to us. Now the situation is being reversed with a high over Iceland and a low in the Bay bringing the cold weather down from the Arctic.
The dog walking lady in the foreground turned out to be one of the vets from the practice we use. I had not met her before and we ended up having a long chat and the dogs a good play.
