Anaemic, unhealthy & obese
Well, actually it reads PALE ALES AND STOUT but I prefer my version.
And how appropriate that it should be etched in the clouded glass windows that once lit the public bar of THE BRAINS SURGERY, a medically named if not themed local pub in Larkhall.
Sadly, after the super long-standing landlord Karen left, the BRAINS SURGERY was run down by what proved to be its last landlord.
It became less and less frequented by the regulars of Lambridge and Larkhall. They became irregulars. Or regulars elsewhere.
Indeed there were some days when it was not possible to find any BRAINS therein at all. And I do like a swig of the Rev. James (no relation), or the S.A. (reputed to stand for Skull Attack).
Finally, the BRAINS SURGERY was sold, and converted into - most appropriately - student accommodation.
And it's a delight that they retained the last vestige of the tradition of the BRAINS SURGERY, the bar-room windows...
