Two gems in an old colliery village!
I'd never been to Easington Village in County Durham before, although I'd often seen signs to it from the main road. My wife needed a new dress for our eldest son's wedding later this year, and had failed to find anything suitable in the mainstream shops in Newcastle. Well, she was recommended by a friend to a little dress shop in this village. You don't really expect to find such shops in an old mining village (the mine is no more) but it was great - lots of choice and lovely staff to help.
So that was one gem. The other gem was this rather lovely village green with the old Church of St Mary the Virgin behind it. It was very windy and cold but the sun was shining nicely, just right for a blip!
