Deadly trap

This spider is determined to weave his web outside hubby's studio. Two days ago I walked right into it and had web over my face and in my hair (the spider jumped off me in fright I think!)
He has made another huge web stretching from the roof of the cottage across the pathway to a bush. I do hope he catches something after all that work!
I'm not sure what kind of spider it is...hopefully not a poisonous one.
