The knack

I visited my daughter in law today and was staggered by her beautiful orchid which is today's blip. She then showed me a number of others which seem to thrive with her tlc. These, and other indoor plants, see me coming and just whither and die. Green fingers I may well have but I fear it's limited to anything outside. 
I know the weather here in the UK is pretty rubbish and blip material hard to find but am losing enthusiasm for the new blip. There are clear advantages but in all the changes personality seems to have been lost. Is it just me?
