Symbolic Bird

I can see why our forefathers chose the Bald Eagle to represent our country. Ben Franklin suggested the turkey be our national bird. He was a very interesting fellow but his choice just didn't make it in the "national bird" department. Look at this guy (or gal as the case may be.) Now that is a bird! In the past these birds began to decline. A program was developed to bring them back. It was a huge success and now you can find them in almost every state in the United States.

We obviously did see eagles today along the Nooksack River. There were nowhere near the number we saw last time. I think the salmon run is about over. There were very few fish and not very many eagles enjoying them. Lots of eagles were in the trees offering their opinions of the situation. But only a few at a time flew down to sample the one or two fish lying about.

Dave, Steve and I arrived at the bridge on Mosquito Lake Road around eight. It took the birds awhile to get going. By 9:30 they were done and we headed down Mosquito Lake Road to Acme where we ate at the local diner. They have fine food and a very nice gal name Judy who waited on us. Afterwards we went home and played one last Carcassonne game before the guys headed home.

Helena came over during this time and spent a few hours with Arvin. That was great. We all waited to hear about Helena's sister Lynda who was in surgery today. She is donating a kidney to a very close friend and today was the day. We got the call that she got through the surgery with flying colors and her friend's surgery is still in progress. That is going well too. We are relieved and happy for both of them.

And here I am again flabbergasted at the response to my last blip. How will I ever keep up with responding to your kind words, stars and hearts? Thank you so much. What a treat to find two of my photos on the front page of the "popular" photos. Wow. I do plan to get to responding to at least the comments on my Blip anniversary.
