Dusk.
Day one of my secondment to (insert generic government organisation) . It's taken 3 months to get me here as the control measures surrounding classified information are so strict. It's really weird sitting in a new office, when I feel like I only started at MY office last week. A whole set of new names to learn. A whole new computer system to get frustrated with. A whole new coffee machine to give me 3rd-degree burns. I'm probably not meant to say much more, so in general: the office is nice (HUGE) and the staff seem lovely. I don't know how I'll find the work. One of those that will be very very good for developing my knowledge, and seeing things from a new perspective. I worry it might be more mundane than my usual job, but I'll be happy to be proven wrong. My computer monitor sighs loudly every 8 and a half minutes, making me jump. I'm sure I'll get used to him... Perhaps I should name him. Alfred? It's still super-windy here. I've never worked in a high-rise before; everything vibrates in the gusts. Weird.
M was away on a training course today. I managed to get home for 4.45 and M and I made a lovely dinner of creamy mustard chicken with leeks and dauphinose potatoes. We're a good team; our kitchen is TINY, but somehow we've developed a technique which works. After tea, we took a walk to the River Dee and sat on the banks listening to the fish jump in the dusk. Home for Grand Designs and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc before bed :)
