Mixed day.  What was supposed to be a 'desk' day soon diverted into DIY and electrics.  The wiring here is generally good, but a bit interesting in parts. I'd guess most of it was done by a contractor, but some of it definitely wasn't.

Unexpected visit from a chippy (as in carpenter) this morning.  Unexpected only in the sense we thought he was coming tomorrow. We've been looking at options for the windows. Glazing companies seem incapable of providing an estimate.  It was a real pleasure talking through the options with someone clearly skilled and also capable of providing some creative solutions to the challenges; and indeed liking a challenge.

His reaction to the hacked-around window in Cupcake's room was quite entertaining; indeed rather similar to the plumbers' reaction to the temperature control on the hot water cylinder.

Census Man came this afternoon: a random sampling of the population between Censii.  I suspect we're somewhat outliers on the bell curve of normality.
