Outside-Inside

It's a rather surreal picture today. It started with a wonderful expansive vision across snowy fields to the Campsies and ended with me trapped in a lift for 40 minutes in a labyrinthine building (selfie taken in lift mirror).
I enter lift as sole passenger, press level 4, lift moves up, stops. 'This lift is not in operation' announces a disembodied voice. Press emergency open-door button - nothing. Press every button! No response. Press alarm. The intercom system crackles into life. What is the problem? Where am I?  asks the disembodied voice. That's a bit of a tall order as I have traversed along a maze of corridors, down flights of stairs and round endless bends. However, I tell the voice where I think I am and where I'm heading. I'm assured an engineer is on his way.  20 min later I press the emergency button again for an update. He's on his way. Another 20 minutes later and the engineer prises open the door and I'm free at last! Glad of my phone that let me pass the time catching up with emails, phoning my sister and taking my Blipfoto! Technology! Sometimes it's marvellous and at other times when it stops working, it's such a pain!
