Diary of an Edinburgher

Shopping!

Today was the day for the foray into town. I'd been for my blood test quite early, Archie had no idea when to expect me back (I had been vague with him) and so I just hopped on a bus before I changed my mind.

I was at the first shoe shop before it had opened! Half an hour later, I had not one, not two, but THREE pairs of shoes to take home. I am famous for buying unsuitable shoes in haste, and then never wearing them.

I have tried them on at my leisure, and guess what - they're ALL going back tomorrow! No, actually, the one pair I will keep is the wrong size!! How did that happen?

JR, who is happy for any excuse to go shopping - especially shoe shopping - has offered to return them for me. Phew!

It was a very cold, sunny day, with the odd snow flurry. East Princes Street Gardens looks sad. They're taking down all the stuff from the Winter Wonderland. What was lovely grass is now just mud. They seem to spend half the year rolling out vast areas of new grass, then put vast tracts of floorboards over it and kill it, then start again. I think there are a few weeks in the summer when it looks lovely.

This was the only photo I took today (and I have done it before) with the setting on 'art filter' hence the graininess. The sun was on the Balmoral Hotel as I waited for the bus home, laden with shopping bags (5p each). Though not terribly successful.

I've arranged for a dog trainer to come and meet young Archie... He made me a bit anxious the way he kept saying, 'Ah, yes... Schnauzers...' He's already been asked to re-home two Christmas puppies! Can you believe it?
