Dark and Light
Winter can be a very beautiful time of year. The sun is lower in the sky, casting beautiful shadows on frost covered fields, birds more visible because the cover of leaves has long disappeared. That's great at the weekends when it's possible to out sleep the darkness.
This morning rain was battering off the windows, the house was cold and work was beckoning! 5 minutes longer became 65 minutes longer! I had over-slept, a rare occurrence! No time for a coffee, let alone the planned morning run! I had just enough time to chuck my running kit in a bag and got to the train station earlier than normal! I even had time for a chat with Alan, Northern Rail's best employee!
After work was run time.... a slightly long one but at easy pace! My plan was to keep going until my legs hurt! It never happened. Well that was until the 16km mark when on an unlit path I trod on a branch which sprung up and took a chunk out my leg! Bloody sore, however, the pain quickly dissipated. I made it all the way home, just over 18km and felt as if I could run a marathon if I wasn't starving.
I love light! Since taking up photography, it means far more to me.Tones and shades, light and dark, textures and patterns. It reminds me of when I was at primary and one of the worst artists in the class! That was until I won a competition for a pencil drawing of the Scottish mountains...smudges creating the clouds and simple jaggy outlines representing the hills! Why did I just remember that?
