White-breasted Nuthatch

Because it has been so cold, I have been trying to keep the birdfeeders full. The word gets out instantly. This is a white-breasted Nuthatch: blue-gray upperparts, black crown and nape. He has a white face and underpants. They are very skittish. He comes often, pecks one kernnel of seed and splits.  Not like the squirrels, they punch-in and work 4-hour shifts.   I am certain the squirrels use machetes and canvass bags to haul seeds away.
